Crossroads

Why do some of us go through life never looking back..Some turn and go back on more than one occasion, and some enter the crossroad zone? What exactly is a crossroad? A fork in the road...What is it put there for? Sometimes straight ahead isn't always the right way! Take a right and you may find your reflection, Left may lead you to a sudden career change, for better or worse, Who knows? Is a crossroads really an enticing cliff, tempting you to jump? What if you're a Capricorn like myself...I'm known to jump! I have no real answers as to why there are crossroads, I only know they exist...I'm standing in one as I type! I have this huge abyss waiting to swallow me up...Thing is..I'm not afraid of the abyss! I'm more afraid of not finding out what is down each turn at the crossroad! How do you know which path is THE path? Is your heart pulling you to the left and right, while your head is telling you to keep moving...Don't take your eyes off the prize? Why cant you have it all? Why not take the damn right....circle back, blow through the left and explode forward with a shit eatin grin on your face! I am embarking on a wondrous journey that I have dreamt of all of my life, Should I keep running ahead, or slow down and experience something that I could ultimately take with me! Isn't life about risk? What is the joy in reaching your goal if you have regret? Head or heart...Left or right...Or the no risk Northern path... Any thoughts?

  1. I say as long as you are living and learning then go with it. Each path will offer new things. And who says you can't back track and go take the road you didn't take the first time?

  2. You have to follow your heart Ditter! If not, you will always look back and regret it. follow that little voice inside you, because when you don't listen to it, you regret it. Make a choice and put all of your heart and soul into it and allow it to happen. If it is meant to be, it will happen naturally.

  3. Well said. As long as you keep putting one foot in front of the other you are on the right path. Never look back. People are only distracted by the past, when they don't feel they have a future.

  5. Ditter, I agree with Mark. Follow your heart. I often find that when I don't, I am sorry in the end. The path may not, in the end, be the one that leads where you want, but if you don't follow your heart, you will always wonder what would have happened if you had done what your heart told you to do. Living with regret sucks. Not a path any of us want to take, and once we do, it is very hard to put that regret in it's place and move on, leaving it behind. Follow your heart and do what you feel is right. You'll do great, I know you will.

  6. And don't ever look back! Learn from the past as it happens, then keep going foreward with that knowledge to help you on your journey. If you spend time looking back in regret, you might make a misstep from not looking where you are going.

    2. Go where you want to go enjoy what you do at any given moment, that's why we have free will. We can make every moment the best moment in our life if we choose it to be so, because it is all about how we perceive the moment we are in. What ifs make you evaluate your course and give you the opportunity to change it if you want.

  8. You have to be patient and wait and be aware, at the same time you have to be ready to seize what you want when you "see" it.
And you will know when you see it, your next move, because it "feels" right, not tactile, but way down in the farthest part of your soul and heart. You will have to be still and listen. (Thats the hard part!)
Then, you will just know and the craziest part about it is that you will not be able to explain it, "The Why part of how you know."
Not to even one person in your life, not even the one you are closest to.
Thats how you will know what to do next! :)

  9. Trust the force. Go where your heart takes you. It might not be the most profitable path, but it will be the path that brings you happiness in the end.

    2. Cause it is what hurts the most, when it gets broke! It also has the biggest energy field. Google it. I know getting technical! Sorry!

      Delete
    3. Because Ditter, the head only knows technical stuff, lacks emotional knowledge, and the head can not satisfy the heart....the heart satisfies the soul and the body..

  10. I always say it's better to follow your heart and if you regret it one day...at least you went for it. Living with the regret of never going for something you want...much worse.

  11. Follow your heart and leave the naysayers to the wolves. We all get to a crossroads in life. I had mine earlier and I'm much happier now. I realized that I needed to STOP listening to other people and pay attention to what my head and my heart were telling me. The first person that you need to listen to is yourself. Yes, family and friends count but you are the keeper of your ship. You live your life for you...no one else.

Hope this helps. I know, I babble sometimes. :)

    1. It helped more than you know! I am a very good judge of situations, and I process things for a while before I make a decision that could affect my life...This is me processing! It's nice to hear how others feel also...

  12. I've learned what's right for everyone else isn't always what's right for me. In the end you can only ever listen to yourself and what works and is right for you. It's not easy and a hell of a lot harder then it sounds (trust me I know, still working on the ignoring and what is right for me deal, lol). But just remind yourself, You are the one who has to look yourself in the mirror everyday and you are the one who has to live with the choices/decisions you've made...not them. :)

  13. If path 1 takes you down a "regret" road... Cut across to the next one and see where it will take you. Sometimes we think the direction we go in will be permanent but that is not true. You can always change things up and switch them around. If you focus on the scary negitive parts of the path....that will be the regret. If you keep focus on the good and great of the path... the negitive regret (if it comes) will not matter as much. Mistakes happen... life moves on.. but if this is want makes you happy and makes YOU (no one else but YOU) feel like you achieved your goals.. It was the right decision! :) Best of luck doll!

  14. You talk about the right leading to your reflection...I think I know this...maybe. Does this reflection strengthen you, nourish your soul, complete every part of you, support you, BELIEVE in you and your goals, lift your spirit up, and willing to walk with you wherever you go? Or is this reflection just a relection of your dreams and aspirations....nothing more? Only your heart can decide this, my little cubby bear. You mentioned that the heart is naive. Yes, it can be....but think of this....would you rather let the head totally rule without compassion, love, desire or let the heart rule and have those things and yes, sometimes at a cost. But that cost can be so worth it. There is no reason why you can't have both the right and the abyss. Grab the reflection, let it wrap around you, hang on tight, and jump on in. What is there to fear as long as the two are one? I know what I want for you, little one, but it is not my want that matters....it is yours. What does your heart REALLY want, Ditter? Yes, I said heart because in all of my 60years, the heart outshines the head every time...

  15. Follow your gut, your intuition. I have found the times in my life when I ignored my intuition, those were times when things did not work out and I had regrets. When I honor my gut level feelings, things roll as they should. Life is all about the road not taken and there will always be bumps and detours, but thats ok.

  16. Don’t stay in the safety zone. Step out into what you feel lead you to do, and you’ll soon discover what you really can do. I can relate sista! I was at that crossroad, several times in my life. I took the road to the left once and the road to the right...both lead me right back to the fork in the road...regrets? Of course...but without them I would not be the wise older sister of Ditterthagreat now would I? LOL! I believe we are destined to be great, ALL of US! It is on the paths of life that we are molded making us who we are to be..without disappointment, regrets, failures, and a few scraped knees..I would not be who I am today. You are finally becoming the beautiful butterfly you were meant to be..spread your wings and fly girl! SOAR HIGH! I loveth thee!

  21. Well...I tried to reply to your reply, but, for some reason, it won't let me. I don't know about that wise bit. LOL!! I think it is more that I am just old! LOL!! Anyway...

I do have a bit of experience in following my heart, doing what I felt was right, and the outcome not being what I wanted. I had to live with regret, anger, and pain from those decisions, but I don't regret the decision! I regret the outcome. I did what my heart said was right, and what I knew was right. In that, I stayed true to myself, and that is more important than the consequences of my choices.

You...well...you will do great. I have every faith in you! You can do anything you put your mind to, and whatever choice you make, in the end, will be the right one. Stay true to yourself, follow your heart, and it will be right.

  23. I say go anywhere but backwards. You know where you've been. And, there isn't any rule saying you can't go left and right? Its your crossroads, build a damn bridge and link them together a few feet in front of you. This is your destiny, you choose how it unfolds. You can have your cake and eat it too, just buy two cakes ;-) I'm so very proud of you!! Listen to your gut and know you have all of us to help support whatever choice you make. ((HUGS)) Me.

  24. Standing at the crossroads is always tough. This year I stepped out of comfortable and predictable. I went the route of the full time writer. Things are tougher in some ways, but even my worst days fill me with more job satisfaction than the last couple of years at my old job combined. I can't guarantee success or whether the path is a right one. What I can tell you is this:

If you walk into it knowing it's going to take work, dedication, and there will be tough times (on those days when you don't want to work toward your dream, even when you're sick as a dog, you still have to work...some...or it won't succeed). But if you learn, grow, stay in touch with those who keep you grounded, and put your entire heart into it, instead of focusing on other path you could have taken, you'll find success. It may not happen over night, or the way you'd originally thought, but it will happen.

  27. I think as long as we follow our heart and take the path if even less traveled we learn as we take the journey. There is so much in our life we want and need. We sometimes have to take the road that might scare us to reach where we want to go. As long as we know that every step we take is one that teaches us something we shall get to where we want.
